   Dr Vijay Bhatkar speaks on Future of Information and Communication Technology  
A public lecture has been organized on "Future of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)" by Dr Vijay Bhatkar on Monday, 19 May 2008 at 1000 hrs. Dr Bhatkar is best known as the architect of PARAM series of supercomputers. However, his other technological achievements include the GIST multilingual technology and Education-To-Home (ETH) mission. He pursues this with a quiet but consuming passion. With the GIST multilingual technology language barriers on computers have been dissolved. His ETH mission is bringing education to the doorsteps of every home. These major and many other minor initiatives have brought him recognition and awards. For his contributions to IT in India, he was conferred with the Padmashree in 2000 - one of India’s highest civilian recognitions by the Government. His home state has also lauded her quiet son with a Maharashtra Bhushan 1999-2000 - the highest recognition by the Government of Maharashtra and so on. Dr Bhatkar has authored and edited 8 books and over 80 research publications in supercomputing, artificial intelligence and distributed computer control, optimal control and variational theory. His contribution in non-local optimal control and non-local variational theory based on his doctoral research has been acclaimed. Listen to Dr Bhatkar to know him more!
