   Dr Naqvi elected as TWAS Fellow  
Dr SWA Naqvi, a Senior Scientist of this institute has received one more recognition from an international academy - Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) - for his outstanding contribution to science and its promotion in the developing world. The 19th General Meeting of TWAS, held in Mexico City, Mexico, on 10 November 2008, have elected Dr Naqvi as a Fellow of TWAS. TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, is an autonomous international organization, founded in 1983 in Trieste, Italy, by a distinguished group of scientists from the South under the leadership of the late Nobel laureate Abdus Salam of Pakistan. It was officially launched by the secretary-general of the United Nations in 1985. TWAS represents the best of science in developing countries. Its main mission is to promote scientific excellence and capacity in the South for science-based sustainable development. Please read biodata of Dr. Naqvi.
