Work at NIO to get a degree from CSIR

The Cabinet (Govt. of India) through a resolution has approved CSIR’s (NIO is one of the constituent laboratory of CSIR) proposal of setting up Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR). Cabinet asked CSIR to functionalize AcSIR and start academic activities by August -September, 2010. It will be positioned to emerge as a world class institution of national importance. The AcSIR would impart instructions and award degrees in frontier areas of science and technology. We believe, the Indian leadership in "Science and Engineering" of tomorrow would depend much upon its strength in integrated and interdisciplinary areas. Taking advantage of CSIR’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and unique human resource, the AcSIR would work towards bridging the gap that exists today in India.

The AcSIR would function on hub and spokes model. The hub would be located centrally, in Delhi - NCR region and NIO would be one of the spokes. Prof Samir K Brahmachari, Director General, CSIR in his message congratulating all those who shared efforts and sent inputs for obtaining this status wrote, "I am confident 'Team CSIR' will be able to build AcSIR as an unique institution recognized nationally and internationally".
