   InterRidge Fellowship to Ms. Baby Divya  
International cooperation in ridge-crest studies (InterRidge) has shortlisted Ms Baby Divya -  a PhD student for 2010 InterRidge Fellowship supported by the ISA Endowment Fund. Currently Ms Baby Divya is working under the guidance of Dr. Shanta Nair, a senior scientist at NIO on "Phylogenetic and functional diversity analysis of bacteria in the oxygen minimum zone sediments in the Arabian Sea" and under the fellowship she would like to work with Dr. Robert Morris at the University of Washington on the microbiological aspects of the hydrothermal vent fauna which only very few have access to, due to the heterogeneity of these ecosystems and the difficulty of sample acquisition. It will also help her in acquiring knowledge and training in proteomics from a premier research institute.
