A summer school on "Dynamics of the North Indian Ocean" was organised during June-July 2010 in two sessions: The first, dealing with basic processes, during 18 June to 3 July, and the second, dealing with applications, during 20-29 July. 57

participants had participated in this school. Besides 37 participants from NIO, 8 from INCOIS, 3 from NIOT, 2 each from NPOL, IITM Pune; and 1 each from NCAOR, IISc, TIFR Bangalore, Jadavpur University, and BITS-Pilani Goa campus benefited from this event.

Eminent personalities in the field of Physical Oceanography like: Drs. Julian P. McCreary, Jr., Distinguished Foreign Scientist of NIO (CSIR) and primary lecturer of the summer school, S.R. Shetye (Director, NIO), S.S.C. Shenoi (Director, INCOIS), P.N. Vinayachandran (Professor, IISc), M. Ravichandran (Scientist, INCOIS), and D. Shankar (Scientist, NIO) contributed to this school.
