   Dr. Ehrlich Desa, NIO Director on IOC (UNESCO) assignment  
Dr. Ehrlich Desa, Director of the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) - CSIR's one of the foremost R&D organizations, left his Karma Bhoomi Goa after three decades of eventful and dedicated service, on an assignment to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). IOC, which is an arm of UNESCO, co-coordinates global ocean research affairs. Dr.Desa has taken over, as Director, Training Education and Mutual Assistance (TEMA) and his task will be capacity building in different littoral countries for better and continuous improvement in understanding of the ocean. He becomes the first Indian to be appointed to this important position of IOC.
