MoU between CSIR-NIO and National Institute of Technology Goa
Dr. S.R. Shetye and Prof. G.R.C. Reddy, the Directors of the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) and the National Institute of Technology Goa (NITG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 31.5.2012 for collaboration in marine instrumentation, including the development of sensors for marine applications using optics/photonics. The term of this maiden collaboration between CSIR-NIO and NITG is 5 years with intent and scope for renewal.
The objective of this collaboration is to undertake joint research projects, the results of which will be transferred to industry, besides publications and patents. CSIR-NIO has offered to take about 10 students per year, ranging for a period of 2 to 6 months, to work on thesis based programmes under the joint supervision of NITG and CSIR-NIO staff either as full project students or summer project students. Similarly, NITG will allow the few nominated staff of CSIR-NIO to participate in its special lectures and classes.
The CSIR-NIO team comprises Sanjeev Afzulpurkar [Chairperson], Gajanan Navelkar [Co-convenor], Dr. Elgar Desa, Antonio Mascarenhas and R. Madhan. And the NITG team consists of Prof. G.R.C. Reddy [co-Chairperson] and P. Saidi Reddy [Convenor].
