Dr. Pratima Jauhari selected for International Seabed Authority
Dr Pratima Jauhari,
Senior Principal Scientist of the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography and an expert on marine minerals has been selected for the post of Marine Geologist at the International Seabed Authority (ISA) which has its headquarters at Kingston, Jamaica. The International Seabed Authority is an autonomous international organization established under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 1994 Agreement. The main aim of the Authority is to govern ocean resources of the seabed and ocean floor and subsoil beyond the limits of national jurisdiction.
Dr. Jauhari, has been working at the geological oceanography since 1983, she has specialized in the field of marine minerals exploration, sediment geochemistry, coastal and industrial surveys and swath bathymetry. She has 34 research papers in national and international journals to her credit. Dr. Jauhari will be joining ISA on 9th September 2013, and will be there for a period of 2 years.
