A delegation comprising of Ms. Marianne Jensen and Ms. Merethe Sandberg Moe from Research Council of Norway along with Mr. Tor Dahlstrøm from Consulate General of Norway visited the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa on 27 May 2016.
The purpose of the visit was to explore common ground and possibilities for collaboration with Norway. Norway has a strong position in ocean sciences and currently a number of collaborative projects are going on with India. The delegation wanted to explore the future collaboration at a more strategic and structural level with CSIR-NIO, a natural partner.
During the visit, Director Dr. Naqvi made a presentation on various activities and programs of the Institute and highlighted possible areas of collaboration in ocean sciences with Norway. He also mentioned that NIO had very strong ties with Norwegian researchers in the past and would like to pursue it further.
The members of the delegation expressed their interests in many areas of research at NIO such as aquaculture, bio-remediation, ocean acidification and ocean energy.
