SERC research grant to Jyothibabu
Dr Jyothibabu received 'SERC Research grant for the Young Scientists' from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. The Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) was established in 1974 and is an apex body through which the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India promotes R&D programmes in newly emerging and challenging areas of science and engineering. SERC is composed of eminent scientists, technologists drawn from various universities/national laboratories and Industry. Under this research grant, Dr Jyothibabu would be working on the "Characterization of microzooplankton in a tropical estuarine system (Cochin backwaters) using ecology, traditional taxonomy and biodiversity informatics". The grant is initially for the period of 3 years. Dr Jyothibabu did his Ph.D. under supervision of Dr KKC Nair, former Scientist-in-Charge, Regional Centre, NIO, Kochi and presently working in the IndObis project at Kochi. He has published articles in various journals, conference proceedings.
