What are RSS Feeds?
News feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and video in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from. Feeds are also known as RSS. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people plump for 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people.
How do I start using feeds?
Option 1 - Email
If you check your email consistently, then directing RSS feeds to your email account is the best option for you.Different email providers have different instructions for subscribing to RSS feeds. You can subscribe to RSS feeds using Microsoft Outlook. Currently, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail and AOL Mail do not enable you to receive RSS feeds in your inbox.
Option 2 - Internet Browser
You can add or bookmark RSS feeds to your favorites using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
Option 3 - Web-Based News Reader
Google Reader and My Yahoo! are two of the most popular web-based news readers. If you dont have a Google or Yahoo account, you can get one for free. If you dont log in to Google or My Yahoo! on a regular basis, receiving email feeds may be a better option for you. Other popular news readers include My AOL, Bloglines and News Gator.
