Services

Services to users outside NIO:

NICMAS maximises its resource utilization by providing services to the marine science students and researchers working elsewhere. However, considerable staff time and other infrastructure is used for providing such services. Therefore, there is a nominal charge for each of these services. Write to Murari P Tapaswi (murari@nio.org) with your requirement for details.

One time services:

Literature search: Using the databases compiled by NICMAS and available locally, retrospective literature searches on SPECIFIC TOPIC of interest are carried out. The output contains bibliographic citation and abstract for each item.

An academic or research organisation or the individual can become an annual member by making one time payment and receiving services all year round. This membership is open to the Indian individuals and institutions only.

Borrowing membership:

The borrowing membership is open to the students and researchers working in Goa only. This is based on annual membership subscription per entitlement of borrowing and a caution deposit. The users are governed by normal rules and regulations concerning borrowing.

IndOcean:

There are over 34000 records so far on this database and each item listed in the database is available in this library. The database can be used over CD at academic and research organisations for a annual membership fee. The member can provide a document which is not listed in the database and entitle for equivalent discounts on next year's renewal of membership. Trial search on this database is available here (retrieves latest 25 records).
