Objectives:
- Integrated analysis of the physical, chemical and biological data collected during the last few years under MR-LR and Bio-diversity programs of RC, Kochi, to understand the fundamental mechanisms that control the production processes at different trophic levels.
- Formulation, development and implementation of a coupled hydrodynamic-ecosystem model for the southwest coast of India and to collect relevant data for the initialization and validation of model results.
- Long term monitoring of physical, chemical, microbial and biological parameters from selected stations in the Vembanad Lake and quantification of coastal inputs.
- Development of a hydrodynamic-ecosystem model for the Vembanad Lake.
- Screening, isolation, characterization, structure-elucidation and field testing of ecofriendly antifouling components from selected marine biota of the southwest coast of India.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA studies for the sustainable development of the coastal zone.
