Identification Key

Carapace very broad, being more than 1.6 times as braod as long, regions of carapace ill defined; upper inner border of palm not sharply crested.

Habitat

Coral reefs, rocky beaches,3 to 30 meters deep.

India, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan

Lakshadweep islands, Gulf of Mannar -very rare in occurrence.

Description

This species has two patterns of colouration, one uniformly crimson red and the other irregularly mottled with yellow on the ground of crimson red.
